Q: So, who runs this place?

A: Hallor (pronouns: they/them) is the creator of this blog after the debacle on twitter with Moffat. SH (she/her) and R (they/them) are their co-runners.

Q: I’m really interested in you guys! Do you have personal blogs?

A: Unfortunately, we’ve decided not to give out our personal blogs. To avoid harassment of any kind and keeping our personal lives out of the blog area. Also, I assure you, we’re pretty average on our personal blogs; we’re a lot more interesting here!

Q: Why STFU Moffat?

A: STFU -insert something here- is a popular naming convention on tumblr (see STFUconservatives, STFUhatemongers, STFUsexists, etc) and we’re following that for convenience. Also, perhaps Moffat needs to be told to shut up from time to time. Any ask criticising our name will be deleted.

Q: Ugh, why are you being so mean to Moffat?? Don’t you have something better to do with your lives?

A: I highly doubt Moffat cares what us average people have to say about him. He’s in a spot of privilege and should not be above criticism. If he knows about us, then that’s great, but I honestly don’t care about his feelings. As for having something better to do, what do you suggest? I think running a blog pointing out sexism, racism, etc in popular television shows is rather productive.

Q: Stop bashing Moffat!

A: We’re not. We’re analysing his writing and pointing out various issues and problems that are in them. We’re not simply going ‘Omg, Moffat sucks and his show sucks and his writing sucks!’ We’re saying WHY it’s not good with examples and criticisms.

Q: Why do you even watch his shows if you don’t like him??

A: Because we like the shows? The actors bring life to the characters we like and the plots can be good sometimes. Also, we’re life-long Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Who fans so why wouldn’t we watch these adaptations? Just because we really hate Steven Moffat and have issues with media doesn’t mean we should stop watching these shows. Any repeats of this will be deleted.

Q: How can Moffat be misognistic - he’s married to Sue Vertue!

A: Read this post. And this one.

Q: Why do you hate sexual women?

A: We don’t hate sexual women. We hate men writing sexual women to fulfill their sexual/romantic fantasies. We also hate it when men try to pass off these women as being feminist.

Q: You’re fucking egotistical, narcissistic, self-entitled assholes!

A: First off, that’s not a question. Second off, entirely untrue. Third off, ad hominem attacks like this will be unanswered from now on.

Q: Why won’t you answer my criticism of you?

A: Because we’re very busy? If you have a criticism for us, blogging about it on your own blog and expecting us to lurk for it is not the way to go. We have too many anons in our inbox and we can’t be sure who is who. If you have something you want us to answer, message us. Or even better, come off anon and submit the link so we have a better idea of where your criticism is. If you don’t, don’t be surprised if we don’t answer. We don’t want another event like this happening.

Q: You’re so sexist, trying to tell women what to do!

A: Again, completely unfounded. We’re calling out sexism in TV shows and stereotypes perpetuated by men in power. Also, in before reverse sexism (which doesn’t exist, thank you). As for telling women what to do? I’m sorry, but where do we do that?

Q: Why don’t you criticise other people! Davies has done some horrible things during his run too!

A: We DO criticise other people. Anyone in media is not above criticism and we point out those who are relevant to Moffat’s sphere. We acknowledge that Davies is not perfect and we will point out why from time to time.

Q: Why did you send Moffat death threats! It’s your fault he’s off twitter!

A: We didn’t send anyone death threats nor do we condone it. We’re against ableism and threats and we will not take any such action. Moffat, and Amanda Abbington and the like, left twitter for their own personal choices. We have not tweeted Moffat since before this blog was made. Any accusations like this will be deleted.

Q: Things aren’t sexist! They’re only there because you’re sexist!

A: We live in a patriarchal world where there are many things that are sexist. Advertisements, media, sports, education, sex, EVERYTHING is tilted towards a male preference. Even if it’s only a little, doesn’t mean it’s not there. You only need to look at the stigma towards rape and abortion to see how misogynistic society is. It’s not a reach to believe that popular television shows are sexist.

Q: You just hate Moffat!

A: Well, yeah, but that’s not what this blog is about. Any ask like this will be deleted.

Q: Why do you delete all these asks? Obviously you hate criticism yourself!

A: Nah, we just have several hundred asks and it gets redundant seeing the same thing over and over again when we can answer them in one swoop in the FAQ. That’s kind of the purpose of an FAQ! We would prefer you read the FAQ first so you don’t send multiple asks when our inbox is already overflowing. We want to answer relevant questions and we can’t do that if we’re getting asks that have already been answered here.

Q: Why do you post stuff that isn’t Moffat related?

A: We also promote feminism and intersectionality. We like to provide resources and evidence for why we say what we say. Some people do not understand nor see what we see so we attempt to show through other examples and articles to help explain why and hopefully help people understand our points of views.
